Applicant Requirements
1. Country of residence status Applicants in Canada must have legal temporary resident status. Applicants outside of Canada are required to prove legal status in the country of residence .
2. Age: Applicants must be between the ages of 21-55 (based on when the application is received by Immigration).
3. Employer Offer: A permanent offer from a Nova Scotia employer for a position that falls under the NOC's O.A.B category. If the applicant's position falls into category C or D, the immigration office will make a selection based on labour market conditions and the applicant will be required to have six months of work experience in Nova Scotia.
Education and training A minimum of 12 years of education or training equivalent to a Canadian high school diploma. A diploma and license with a relevant work background. Some occupations require professional certification from Nova Scotia. 5.
Language Proficiency The position is O.A.B. Written proof or explanation of meeting the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) minimum Level 5 standard is required.
This can be demonstrated in one of three ways.
a. Transcripts of studies or other materials showing that English or French is the primary language of instruction or communication
b. A letter of employment verifying that English or French is the working language
c. English exams - IELTS or CELPIP. French - TEF position in category C.D. Pass the exam at Level 4 of the CLB. 6.
6. Work experience A minimum of 12 months of relevant work experience. The work experience must be proven by submitting a CV and the rest of the employment documents.
7. Intent to Settle Demonstrate intent to settle by factors such as study, employment, home ownership, family ties, etc.
8. Financial support may be based on federal criteria. Applicants must have $11,000 and an additional $2,000 for each family member to ensure that the family will be able to land and settle. (The income standard on the employer's offer cannot be lower than the LICO standard)
