A Canadian work permit is a legal document issued by the Canadian government to foreign residents who need to come to Canada to work temporarily. It is not easy for foreigners to work in Canada because there are strict restrictions under Canadian law.
Work permit approval process
(1) Applicants must first obtain a job offer from a Canadian company. The Canadian employer must submit a Labour Market Opinion to the local Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC). In this application, the employer must submit a previous Canadian job offer to prove that there is no local Canadian specialist for the job and that a foreign worker must be hired. If the job meets the government's requirements for salary and working conditions, Human Resources and Social Development Canada will issue a letter of confirmation (Positive Labour Market Opinion).
(2) After obtaining a letter of confirmation (Positive Labour Market Opinion (LMO) from HRSDC, the applicant must apply for a visa at the Canadian Embassy in his or her country, bringing with him or her a letter of appointment from a Canadian company and documentation that the person is suitable for the job. The embassy or consulate will contact Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) to determine if the applicant is suitable for the position for which he or she was hired and if he or she will leave Canada before the visa expires. If the review is satisfactory, the embassy or consulate issues an entry visa.
(3) After arriving in Canada, the applicant must perform the work permitted on the work permit. If for any reason the applicant loses the job or changes to another job, he or she must first apply for new work authorization from the Human Resources Department and then apply for a work permit from the Immigration Department. If you violate the requirements of your work visa, you may be subject to a deportation order.
