Mr. Jeff Wang, the CEO of ITSuper Group and a computer software expert, was recently invited by New Oriental to hold a special lecture, and the editorial team invited Jeff to provide our website users with his experience and information on job hunting and interviewing skills for computer professionals in Canada.
People who have listened to Jeff's lecture or had in-depth discussions and consultations with him think his Canadian experience and information is not only a general guide for professionals who are preparing to immigrate in terms of employment, but also a great help for other domestic job seekers in improving their job search skills and popularizing international employment knowledge. In order to enable more friends to keep abreast of overseas information, our website will publish Jeff's lectures and feature articles one after another from this week onwards. How to Write a Good Resume (Including Cover Letter) How to Write a Good Resume (Including Application Letter) Resume Overview: There are many guide books on how to write a resume, so you may want to refer to them more.
I'll list the types of resumes and writing methods here, and remind you to pay attention to some of the places that are not easy to express clearly.
Definition of resume: A resume is actually a short description of yourself, explaining where you are, what you have done, or you can say that a resume is your own advertisement for yourself. Of course to attract the attention of others or persuasive, impactful advertising is the first step in your job search success.
The length of the resume: programmers are generally 2-3 pages of paper is appropriate. CEO and other senior executives, of course, are not included.
Resume principles: simple and clear, targeted (To be concise and to the point). For agencies, you should try to list key words on the resume.
Types of resumes: 1. chronological 2. functional 1. 1 chronological This is the most common way of writing. However, please note that the chronological order is actually in reverse order. This kind of resume is used to emphasize your work experience, older people with more experience are more suitable. 2. 1 Write by functional classification This is a format for listing work experience by skills and importance. This kind of resume emphasizes your ability and is more suitable for young people. 3、Traditional resume (Traditional) 4、Electronic resume (Electronic. TXT/RTF).
CV vs Resume: CV is much lengthier than a resume and emphasize your credentials and education. Published works are cited and seminars presented are also included. particularly interested in Education, Associations and Societies, Innovations, Product Launches, Published papers, Business Employers are particularly interested in Education, Associations and Societies, Innovations, Product Launches, Published papers, Business Development, Globalization, Presentations, Research and Development, Software Skills. Educators, doctors, health care professionals, presenters, scientists and people abroad would use a curriculum vitae.
The importance of a resume: Employers now take resumes very seriously, and HR departments usually keep a resume for six months to a year after receiving it. Whenever there is an opening, they will look at the resumes they have already received. The level of importance that Canadians place on resumes and letters of recommendation is sometimes absurd. However, this is the reality of a society that places such a high value on resumes, and it can't be changed, at least at the moment. And it has its reasons.
Credibility of your resume: Canadians believe everything you put on your resume. They don't check your materials before hiring you. If you are a CONSULTANT, then you even have the opportunity to make up a big lie. If you are an employee, then the personnel department has the right to ask you for all kinds of diplomas and keep copies of them after you join the company.
Resume does not have to write anything: Canadian job resume is not "accountable to the organization", everything about personal privacy does not have to be listed, such as race, origin, gender, age, marital status, social security number, etc.. Publication, academic conferences are not necessarily written (excluding applications for positions in scientific institutions). The way you write your resume varies from person to person, but it must be concise and clear. Your CV is your face, and naturally it is a general description of you, not of anyone else. This is why using random "resume templates" or even "resume software" does not guarantee a good resume. Your overall ability, your character, and your style should be reflected in your resume.
Writing a resume should pay attention to the following points: 1, to whom to write? 2、What does he (she) like to read? 3, concise, clear paragraphs, easy to read and remember; 4, content, depth, style; 5, the resume must be neat, otherwise it is easy to be ignored, smear, crumpled is very bad, will leave a bad impression on the employer. For employers, a sloppy resume means a sloppy employee. 6. Print multiple copies, even dozens and dozens of copies, for backup. From now on, please prepare your resume and keep it updated. When you go job hunting, be sure to take your resume with you and leave where a copy.
